LASHES FAQ

+ WHAT ARE THE LASHES MADE OF?

The lashes we use are faux mink. They are made up of unique synthetic yarn fibers which make them super soft and light. Borby lashes are a deep matte black and never lose their curl.

+ ARE YOUR LASH PRODUCTS VEGAN OR CRUELTY FREE?

All of our lash products are 100% cruelty free and can be considered vegan. None of Borboleta’s products have been tested on animals.

+ IS YOUR ADHESIVE LATEX FREE?

Yes! All of our adhesives are latex and formaldehyde free.

+ WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Eyelash extensions are individual synthetic lashes of different lengths, curls and weight (thickness) cut in the shape of a natural lash and applied one-by-one to each individual natural lash as an ‘extension’ of your natural lash.

+ CAN MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS BE REMOVED?

Yes. Your extensions can be removed at anytime.

+ CAN I STILL WEAR EYE MAKEUP?

Yes, but most clients don't even feel the need to wear eye makeup. You will wake up and feel ready to go! No more running, streaking, smudging, or flaking mascara. You can still use eyeliner and eye shadows as usual, as long as these products don’t contain oil as oil will break down the bond of adhesive and your natural lash. We highly recommend using a cream pencil or powder base product; something that can easily be removed with our makeup remover for lash extensions.

+ CAN I WEAR MASCARA?

No!

+ HOW SAFE ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

The lashes are applied directly to the natural lash, never applied to the skin. The procedure is pain free and the extensions are feather light, so they will not pull your natural lashes out.

+ WHO SHOULD NOT GET LASH EXTENSIONS?

An individual with any allergy to adhesives or cyanoacrylate adhesives. An individual who has undergone chemotherapy over the last six months, or an individual who does not have natural eyelashes may not have Eyelash Extensions applied. If you suffer from an eye infecton or a degenerative disease of the eye, we cannot apply lash extensions to your eyes. If you sleep on your face (stomach sleeper) or have a habit of picking or pulling your lashes you also may not be a good candidate for lash extensions. Please further discuss this during consultation with your lash artist.

+ WILL EYELASH EXTENSIONS DAMAGE MY NATURAL LASHES?

This is the biggest myth in the game! As long as lash extensions are placed properly, no damage can be made to your natural lashes. The lash cycle is made up of three phases. It is normal for your natural lashes to fall out after they hit their third (Telogen) phase. A new lash is ready to grow when the old one sheds! Everyone's growth cycle is different, but it is common to lose anywhere from 1 - 5 natural lashes per day.

+ WHY DO I NEED TO GET FILLS?

On average, there are about 65-200 natural lashes per eye, all growing at different rates!

Your natural lashes grow out dropping the extensions. Eyelashes grow in 3 stages (anagen, catagen, and telogen.) Factors like age, medications and even stress levels all affect lash growth cycle. Because of this cycle, it requires replacement of an extension to your new upcoming lashes!

+ ARE ALLERGIC REACTIONS COMMON?

Reactions are not too common but they do happen. In cases of mild reaction, a person may be able to treat the symptoms at home. They can try:

• eye drops
• cold compresses
• antihistamines
• hydrocortisone cream or ointment

It is also important to resist the temptation to rub the eyes if they are itchy. If symptoms are severe, a person should see their doctor for treatment. A doctor can assess the severity of the reaction and provide specific treatment for it.

LASH PRODUCTS FAQ

+ WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BORBOLETA MAKEUP REMOVER AND LASH BATH CLEANSER?

The Makeup Remover is a water-based solution that breaks down makeup and is lash-safe. Although it is designed specifically for eye makeup, you can use this product all over your face. The Lash Bath cleanser is designed for use after all makeup has been removed from eyes. This cleanser will remove any remaining dirt or residue from lashes.
